Wedge Artistry

I asked LaMont of MannKrafted Golf Works to tackle a wedge customization project for me, and being the great little brother that he is, he agreed....none of my "ideas " are cheap, just pretty.

This started off with a pair of the newest series of wedges that Tad Moore has come out with. The originaql "Master Designer Series" wedges were some of my all time favorites, but these were stunning, I just couldn't leave well enough alone...

My original plan for these required removing the chrome plating, so they were sent to Jim at TheIronFactory.com . They came back perfect. Then LaMont calls and says, a magnet won't stick to them and black oxide has no effect. So my next step of gun blueing them is history, they're stainless steel. As always, LaMont saves the day, probably prettier than my original idea, we'll never know, but enjoy...

So, I was driving along the other day and a friend calls from Phoenix...

He wanted to know if I knew anything about some clubs called "Mar-you-man" with some signature on them ?

I about choked ! My Pop games Maruman Curtis Strange blades and in my opinion, they're probably the sweetest blades ever created. Only 4 or 5 days earlier I had made an offer to an Ebayer for a set at just under a grand and was denyed. There were only 750 sets ever made, this story is like the old "answered an ad for an old Chevy in a barn...". LaMont made a run to the Goodwill in Gilbert, AZ yesterday and grabbed these for me for.......

$9.99 !!!

   Support your local Goodwill !!!

The heads are being pulled and shipped to Jim at theironfactory.com for entire restoration, then back to me for Gun Blueing, new Project X's, 1OFFGOLF.com grips from Mike at SMTGolf.com and hopefully for my wallet's sake, I have the ultimate set of blades.

Another first in club design in the works, heads are on their way back to AZ for extreme milling and fitting. updates as it goes. Stay tuned ....

SMT Durometer wedges

I was introduced to Mike Tait of SMTGolf.com through a fellow PrimeTimeGolf. member a while back and told about a crazy inexpensive price assembled and shipped.

I don't know if Mike is still offering that deal but you can call him at 888-693-4001 and ask.

The one I got has a permanent place in my gamer bag. Hands down one of the sweetest feeling, most consistent easiest to play wedges that I've ever owned, and I currently have at least 50 high end wedges in rotation.

If you want to read Mike's write-up on them, try

I found some pics of some polymered wedges and that I thought I should share. The possibilities of colors and sheens are endless only LaMont won't do wedges and I'm always out on the road. Still pretty cool looking IMO.

Thanks for looking, Morgan

Brad Faxon Restored

I spotted this Titleist Brad Faxon wedge in a used club barrel at a local course and was told $15. It had been BADLY abused, deep scars on the sole, rock dings in the face, and the top-line was nicked up horribly. At that time I loved a challenge so I took her home to the wheels. In a couple days I had the sole an top-line cleaned up but the face was a disaster so off she went to Jim at TheIronFactory.com for re-facing and new grooves and chrome. I wish I had thought to take "before" pics, but here is the outcome. Honestly maybe better than new with copper under the chrome this time.

Let me know what you think, Morgan
