From the Road

I spotted this sweet ol' gal just laying around Wells, NV afew years back, then she dissappeared, now she's back, just hangin' out... What a sweet ol' Gal !!!

She's probably a 1952-55 Kenworth, butterfly hood. The sheet metal is so strait, even the tube around the grill is dentless, Pop had to replace his thanks to "deer in the headlights" on his ol' '56, and that ain't easy to find. I'll go pop her hood in the morning and see what she has under her skirt, LMAO...

Sorry I've been neglecting the site, I got lotsa new shite !!

Kinda like findin' a TPM hand made in a thrift store, but more work... LMAO

Thanks for stopping back, Morgan

What a TRIP !!!

A young driver for our outfit, Matt,  gets along with me quite well and the boss likes him to run with me and my cousin Rodney as he's only been Long Hauling for less than a year I think, he has become a good friend and an awesome operator in a short period for what we have to do some times...

This run we both loaded 44,000 lb. 12 foot wide pre-cast concrete outhouses for a state park in CA, Los Plumas, LoneRock Campground outside of Janesville, CA. It's a given that delivering to a campground means the road wasn't built for us... We left US-395 8 miles South of Susanville and started uuuppppp Janesville Grade taking up the entire road at a 9-10% grade. Very steep mountain passes where trucks have problems are limited to 6% grade on interstates this was extremely worse, when you had to drop a gear, you just had to drop 3 at once... for 24 miles.

But we made it and Matt was a veteran, great work kid !!

Just a couple pics of the load and the crazy crane truck that picked it off (2 steerable axles, 3 powered drive axles, and 2 steerable drop axles.

Thanks, Morgan

THIS THING WAS A MONSTER !!!

I have seen and operated some incredible machines in 18 years on the road, but this was the shit !! When I loaded these steel counterweights they told me it would be about 46,000 lbs., then they picked them up with two 25 K forlifts and they were bouncing... it was more like 54,000. No worries, no scales between El Paso and Odessa, at least none I can't get around.

So when I get to Odessa, TX to deliver, the recieving guy shakes his head, this is a problem. No worries again, one of the operators says he has it covered and soon this beast comes around the corner... Only problem was the forks are 9 inch thick steel and the load was flat on the deck. We figured that out and this brute didn't even groan the slightest picking it up.

Only 3 V800 chassis were made by Caterpillar, 2 became large scale dump trucks and this one became "THE BEAST" for Weatherford, Inc., an oil drilling giant in Texas.

Love seeing and living shit others only read about and see in movies.

Looking at the pic now, I still can't believe that thing !! Also I have been tol now that the other two V800 have been dismantled making "THE BEAST" the sole survivor V800. What a treat for me to see her in action.

Thanks for looking, Morgan

On March 25, 2010 10 motorcyclists, out for a nice day riding together, were run over by a big rig while stopped at a light in Phoenix. 4 died on site 4 more were hospitalized and will have to be in therapy for a very long time. The driver of the truck said he was grabbing for papers... Please don't be ditracted while driving, it may cost someone else their life, and destroy yours.
